Volleyball Recap: Falkville Takes a Loss

Falkville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Austin Black Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Austin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cora Barnes, who had five aces and three digs. Those five aces gave Barnes a new career-high. Halo Reed also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Falkville's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Austin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-4 record this season.

Falkville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Danville on the 25th. As for Austin, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Brewer on the 25th.
