Baseball Recap: New Providence Takes a Loss

New Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Westfield Blue Devils, falling 18-11. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Matthew Santacross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Michael Schmidt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

New Providence's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Westfield, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Coincidentally, New Providence and Westfield will both be playing Johnson the next time they take the field. The Pioneers will head out to face the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Blue Devils will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
