Baseball Game Preview: Chesapeake Panthers vs. South Point Pointers

Chesapeake is 2-8 against South Point since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Pointers at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Chesapeake lost 12-2 to Portsmouth on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Dylan White made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Zach Burdine also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ironton hit South Point with a six-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pointers came up short against the Fighting Tigers, falling 13-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 18, 2025, but that streak is no more.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Chesapeake, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Chesapeake suffered a grim 17-5 defeat to South Point in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
