Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Susquehannock's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Susquehannock lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Biglerville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Warriors blew past the Canners 11-0 on Thursday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ella Wetzel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Emily Karst was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Michelle Morris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Susquehannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biglerville only posted an OBP of .211.

Susquehannock is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Biglerville, they moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Susquehannock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Biglerville, they will be playing at home against Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Canners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Raiders have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
