Softball Game Preview: Lucas Cubs vs. South Central Trojans

The Lucas Cubs will take on the South Central Trojans in a tournament on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lucas' last matchup with Loudonville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Cubs lost 15-6 to the Redbirds. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Redbirds recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Charlize Stinehour was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, South Central's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Mapleton, falling 16-1.

Ember Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Lucas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lucas has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Lucas suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to South Central in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Cubs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
