Softball Recap: Cooper Starts Season with Win Against Gainesville

Cooper had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Gainesville Leopards 6-4.

Abigail Carter was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Cooper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Gainesville is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Cooper will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Canadian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gainesville, they will head out to challenge Quitman at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
