Softball Game Preview: Escalon Cougars vs. Summerville Bears

The Escalon Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Summerville Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Escalon has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

It was a proper cat-fight when Escalon faced off against Gregori on Monday. Escalon lost 15-7 to Gregori. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.

Lizzy Allan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Madison Babasa, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Summerville came up short against Hughson on Friday, falling 16-5. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leia Flores was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Summerville's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Escalon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Escalon came out on top in a nail-biter against Summerville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 14-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for Escalon since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
