Dear Posts Huge Game in 34-33 Loss
Starting off the list is Quitman's Akylin Dear, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Dear rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 144 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Panthers takes on Mendenhall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Underclassman Ty Davis Major Player in Mendenhall Win
While Friday's victory was certainly a team effort, someone pulling more than their own weight was underclassman Ty Davis. Nobody could stop he on Friday as he threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. He is becoming a predictor of Mendenhall's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).
Mendenhall's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers faces off against Quitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Morton had to settle for second on Friday, but Jaylin Stowers sure wasn't going down easily. Stowers was unstoppable, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 248 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.9% of his passes.
For the year, Stowers has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 164.9 passing yards per game.

Tristen Hobson Makes It Two for Morton
Keeping Stowers company is Tristen Hobson, a fellow Morton player. He rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Henry Funchess Delivers Electric Performance Vs Morton
The second Mendenhall player making an appearance here is Henry Funchess, and for good reason. He picked up 125 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Mendenhall's success: when he posts at least 80 receiving yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
For the season, Funchess has caught 4 touchdowns while averaging 70.2 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after four games last season, he was only averaging 26.25 receiving yards per game.
