Volleyball Recap: Rhinelander Comes Up Short

Rhinelander was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 2-0 to the Prentice Buccaneers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss last Thursday.

While Rhinelander ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17.

Prentice was led to victory by Sophie Staroba and Piper Heikkinen. Staroba had 22 assists and four digs, while Heikkinen had 12 digs and one assist. That's the most assists Staroba has posted over her last nine matches.

Rhinelander's defeat dropped their record down to 0-25. As for Prentice, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Rhinelander will be playing at home against Northland Pines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prentice, they will square off against Abbotsford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
