Football Game Preview: Tyler Lions vs. Midlothian Panthers

The Tyler Lions will face off against the Midlothian Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tyler has given up an average of 34.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Tyler ended up a good deal behind Centennial and lost 42-25.

Tyler might have lost, but man, Ashton Arriaga was a machine: he rushed for 62 yards and two TDs on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Midlothian last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Centennial out of the water with a 35-6 final score. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

Tyler better focus on containing Beau Wendel and Jonathan Azunna as the pair were huge in Midlothian's win. Wendel rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Azunna gained 113 total yards and two touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Wendel a new career-high.

The victory made it two in a row for Midlothian and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.5 points over those games. As for Tyler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Things could have been worse for Tyler, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-28 loss to Midlothian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024.
