Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Parkrose Broncos

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Parkrose. The Eagles will challenge the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Centennial has lost four straight at home , while Parkrose has lost four on the road.

Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Parkrose with a sharp 20-5 victory on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Aiden Welsick and Connor Martin were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Welsick pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martin tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Welsick went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, while Martin got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs. Centennial is 2-1 when Welsick posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Walton, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Brooks, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Parkrose's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
