Basketball Recap: Shawe Memorial Extends Winning Streak to Six

While Shawe Memorial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Switzerland County Pacers by a score of 55-44 on Saturday. For the Hilltoppers, this counts as revenge for the 53-40 victory the Pacers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Switzerland County lost, don't look at Addie Kelso. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 18 en route to 21 points. With that strong performance, Kelso is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Smith, who posted four points.

The win (which was Shawe Memorial's sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Switzerland County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Shawe Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-49 victory against Trinity Lutheran on the 17th.
