Baseball Recap: Gray Stone Day Wins Going Away Against Albemarle

Gray Stone Day won the last time they faced Albemarle and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly six runs.

Zach Misenheimer and Cliffton Hatley were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Misenheimer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hatley pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gray Stone Day is 2-1 when Hatley allows two or fewer hits, but 5-10 otherwise. At bat, Misenheimer went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Hatley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Misenheimer has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Anthony Decuir was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Logan Aikman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Gray Stone Day and bumps their season record up to 7-11. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 6 runs. As for Albemarle, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Gray Stone Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Albemarle, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Stanly at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
