Basketball Recap: Christ Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Christ Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 57-21 defeat at the hands of the Baldwin Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 101st).

Despite the loss, Christ Prep Academy had strong showings from Abby Theiss, who posted seven points in addition to ten boards and seven blocks, and Averie Yates, who earned four points and six rebounds. Those seven blocks gave Theiss a new career-high. Camdyn Elder also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Christ Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Leading Baldwin to victory were Peyton Wright and Chloe Neufeld. Wright went 7 for 9 to rack up 19 points, while Neufeld went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Shea Griffith was another key player, putting up nine points.

Christ Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Baldwin, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Christ Prep Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-36 loss against Jefferson West on the 30th. As for Baldwin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-43 defeat against Spring Hill on the 30th.
