Basketball Recap: Howard Beats Guilford Park for Their Third Straight Win

Howard waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Guilford Park Panther 76-62. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Panther are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Howard's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffin Garner, who went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Garner's morning made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joe Hill, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Howard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Howard's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Guilford Park, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Howard has already played their next matchup, an 82-45 victory against Westminster on the 18th. As for Guilford Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-43 loss against Carver Vo-Tech on the 17th.
