Basketball Recap: Springs Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Springs Valley can now relate to. They took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wood Memorial Trojans on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Trojans are ranked 143rd).

Springs Valley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points over those games. Wood Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Springs Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wood Memorial, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northeast Dubois at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
