Softball Recap: Spartanburg Beats Gaffney for Their Third Straight Victory

Spartanburg lost to Gaffney back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Spartanburg Vikings came out on top against the Gaffney Indians by a score of 10-7. The win was just business as usual for the Vikings, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Sydney Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Brooklin Garduno and Madi House did most of the damage at the plate: Garduno went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while House scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ameeliyah Geter, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Spartanburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Gaffney, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Spartanburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Wade Hampton on the 14th. As for Gaffney, they have also already played their next matchup, a 15-5 victory against American Leadership Academy on the 14th.
