Football Recap: Hoke County Takes a Loss

Hoke County lost against Seventy-First back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bucks took a hard 32-15 fall against the Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Falcons are ranked 25th).

Although Hoke County took the loss, they still got scores from Darrell Baria and Favor Anab.

Shon Pone continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seventy-First, rushing for 265 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry. Pone also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending one pass. R'Maunni Watson was another key player, rushing for 60 yards.

Hoke County dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Seventy-First, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Hoke County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 21-0 loss against Forest Hills on the 19th. As for Seventy-First, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 36-28 victory against Jack Britt on the 19th.
