Baseball Recap: Northside Methodist Academy Knights vs. Early County Bobcats
Northside Methodist Academy had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Early County Bobcats by a score of 8-6. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 14-11 to the Bobcats when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Northside Methodist Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sealy Haas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
As for Early County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
On Early County's side, Atticus Lumpkin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Lumpkin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Evan Grist was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Lance Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Northside Methodist Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-6 defeat against Slocomb on the 16th. As for Early County, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Baconton Charter on the 15th.
