Basketball Recap: Families Instructing Students HomeSchool Comes Up Short

After flying high against Candlelight Christian Academy last Thursday, Families Instructing Students HomeSchool came back down to earth. The Families Instructing Students HomeSchool Hawks took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excel Christian Academy Spartans. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 46-17.

Excel Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bianca Berbick out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. Berbick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Aysia Mertz was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Excel Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Families Instructing Students HomeSchool will face off against Geneva Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Families Instructing Students HomeSchool is facing Geneva Classical Academy at the right time seeing as Geneva Classical Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Excel Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-10 win against Winter Haven Christian on the 3rd.
