Football Recap: Austin Putnam and Owen Hooper Pace Nevada Union Defense + How To Watch

Nevada Union extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They lost 28-3 to the Roseville Tigers. The game marked the Miners' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Nevada Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Austin Putnam and Owen Hooper. Putnam is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season. Nevada Union got some further help from Daniel Demario: he made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

As for Roseville, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points over those games.

Roseville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from D'marcis Gresham, who rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Kenny McClure did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.

Coming up, Nevada Union will challenge Del Campo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Miners will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Roseville, they will square off against Twelve Bridges at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Raging Rhinos have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
