Basketball Game Preview: Mattawan Wildcats vs. Central Bearcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mattawan Wildcats duke it out with the Central Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mattawan, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Mattawan turned things around against Portage Northern on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 44-25 victory over the Huskies. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Central came up short against Lakeview on Friday and fell 46-39. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Mattawan, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.

Mattawan didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mattawan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
