Football Game Preview: Clayton Comets vs. Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders + Official Tickets

The Clayton Comets will face off against the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clayton comes in on six and Cardinal Gibbons on eight.

Clayton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Southeast Raleigh with points to spare, taking the game 35-21.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons faced Garner in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Crusaders skirted past the Trojans 16-14.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 11 in total. All those points came courtesy of Evan Windley: he added nine points with three field goals and another on an extra-point kick.

Clayton's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Clayton couldn't quite finish off Cardinal Gibbons when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 30-28. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
