Volleyball Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Wesley Chapel Wildcats

The Mitchell Mustangs will head out to square off against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mitchell can't be too worried about heading out to take on Wesley Chapel: they just beat Weeki Wachee at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 23rd (when they won 3-0).

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Wesley Chapel had to endure an eight-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Osceola by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

Wesley Chapel had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Wesley Chapel's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.

Mitchell couldn't quite get it done against Wesley Chapel in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
