Basketball Recap: Rouse Triumphs

If Leander wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Rouse, they should've done a better job of containing D'Andre Gardner. The Raiders walked away with a 54-47 victory over the Lions on Tuesday thanks in part to Gardner, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Nielson, who posted eight points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last four games he's played.

Rouse's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Leander, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-16 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rouse will square off against Lehman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Lobos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.88 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Leander, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m.
