Basketball Game Preview: Mason County Eastern Cardinals vs. Walkerville Wildcats

Mason County Eastern is 8-2 against Walkerville since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals face off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Mason County Eastern is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Mason County Eastern came up short against Marion on Tuesday, falling 58-35. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 719th, while the Eagles are ranked 351st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walkerville). They walked away with a 39-32 victory over Crossroads Charter Academy on Tuesday.

Walkerville picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Mason County Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Everything came up roses for Mason County Eastern against Walkerville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 54-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mason County Eastern since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
