Baseball Game Preview: Harmon Hawks vs. Wyandotte Bulldogs

Harmon is 2-8 against Wyandotte since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Harmon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Harmon beat Highland Park 5-2. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Harmon got a great performance from Jesus Portillo Carrillo as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. The Hawks are 3-1 when Portillo Carrillo allows one or fewer hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brandon Anfinson was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Harmon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Chad Taylor was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wyandotte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to East. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Wyandotte's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Harmon, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Wyandotte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Harmon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. It's a different story for Wyandotte, though, as they've only averaged .172. Will they be able to contain Harmon's hitters?

Everything went Harmon's way against Wyandotte in their previous meeting last Saturday, as Harmon made off with a 19-9 win. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
