Basketball Recap: Evangel Christian Beats Ezekiel Academy for Their Third Straight Victory

Evangel Christian had won two straight games and Asa Wagoner did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Evangel Christian Lightning strolled past the Ezekiel Academy Knights with points to spare, taking the game 67-48 thanks in part to Wagoner, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four).

When it comes to explaining why Ezekiel Academy lost, don't look at Kelson Free. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 en route to 20 points and six steals. Free is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Jonathan Lynch also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Evangel Christian pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ezekiel Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-5.

Evangel Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season. Similarly, Ezekiel Academy (ranked 108th) will meet Tuscaloosa Home Educators (ranked 350th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
