Softball Recap: Kennedy Eagles vs. De Anza Dons

Kennedy extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7-1 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the De Anza Dons. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Dons when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for De Anza, their record is now 3-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

For De Anza's part, Ma'Yhana Moore and Mya Arroyo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Moore pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Arroyo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Moore went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Arroyo went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Moore's first of the season.

In other batting news, De Anza got a massive performance out of Riana Everetts, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Everetts has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aubrianna Garcia, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Kennedy will square off against Vallejo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for De Anza, they will face off against Albany at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
