Softball Recap: Irvington Takes a Loss

Irvington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-6 to the Washington Huskies. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Maya Briones was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diya Vacin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Irvington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Washington, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Irvington will challenge Mission San Jose at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Washington, they will take on Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
