Chiawana is 9-1 against Southridge since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chiawana Riverhawks will face off against the Southridge Suns at 5:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chiawana comes in on seven and Southridge on four.

Chiawana will head into Saturday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 24) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 59-56 victory over Mead. Given the Riverhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Panthers are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chiawana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Baylee Maldonado led the charge by putting up 11 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaia Foster, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

While Southridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Pasco by a score of 49-36 on Monday.

Chiawana's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Southridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Chiawana against Southridge in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 72-45 win. Will Chiawana repeat their success, or does Southridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
