Volleyball Recap: Alcuin Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Alcuin's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the First Baptist Saints with a sharp 3-0 win. The Hawks were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Saints, so the Hawks were just returning the favor.

While Alcuin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.

Alcuin found their leader in freshman Ainsley Johnson, who had 18 digs and one assist. Those 18 digs set a new season-high mark for Johnson. Lucy Owens also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Alcuin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since September 2nd.

Alcuin pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for First Baptist, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, Alcuin and First Baptist will both be playing Ovilla Christian the next time they take the court. The Hawks will host the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Saints will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
