Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

Mt. Vernon and Pendleton Heights squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mt. Vernon had to settle for second. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arabians. Considering the last time the Marauders couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.

Amelia Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Pendleton Heights, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-13.

As of now, neither Mt. Vernon nor the Arabians have any future games scheduled.
