Basketball Game Preview: Wellsboro Hornets vs. Troy Trojans

The Wellsboro Hornets will square off against the Troy Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Wellsboro is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since January 30, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over Towanda.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Troy against Canton on Saturday as the team secured a 69-18 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season.

Troy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Wellsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Wellsboro was taken down by Troy 66-36 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Wellsboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
