Sierra Prescott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinlee McDermaid, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Lancaster, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Lehi's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Riverton by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since April 18th.
Lehi also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Abbi Harroun gave up only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Harroun has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
Herriman is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Lehi, their loss dropped their record down to 23-9.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Herriman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Herriman was able to grind out a solid win over Lehi when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
