It was a good run, but Midlothian unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers and Pantherettes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.
Midlothian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-17.
Kameron Rector paced Midlothian's offense, picking up 17 kills. Rector got some help from Kyleigh Shaw and her 23 assists. Carly Dickson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Duncanville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chloe Carpenter, who had 25 assists and four digs. Those 25 assists gave Carpenter a new career-high.
Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 26-14. As for Duncanville, they pushed their record up to 37-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Midlothian and Duncanville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers will square off against Chaparral on Thursday with a big rank advantage (128 vs. 672). Meanwhile, Duncanville (ranked 45th) will meet Temple (ranked 573rd) on Thursday.
