Softball Recap: Oneonta Takes a Loss

Oneonta had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 11-18 to make it four. They fell just short of the Southeastern Mustangs by a score of 7-6. The Redskins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 4-0.

Ashtyn Sligh put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Desz Fredrick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Southeastern, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-10. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs.

On Southeastern's side, Taylor Moon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Davlin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Oneonta will host Pennington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Southeastern, they will be playing at home against Appalachian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
