Preview: Aspen Skiers vs. Cedaredge Bruins

Aspen is 0-9 against Cedaredge since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Aspen Skiers will be playing at home against the Cedaredge Bruins at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Aspen has not done well against Steamboat Springs recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Aspen welcomed the New Year with a 23-17 win over Steamboat Springs. The win was just what Aspen needed coming off of a 54-16 loss in their prior matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aspen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fiona Benvenuto, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madeline Lee, who scored 8 points.

Meanwhile, Cedaredge earned a 52-39 win over Byers on Saturday.

Among those leading the charge was Carley Malinowski, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Cedaredge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Denison, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists.

The win got Aspen back to even at 1-1. As for Cedaredge, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Aspen was taken down by Cedaredge 42-12 when the teams last played back in February. Can Aspen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
