Soccer Game Preview: Elkhorn vs. Beatrice

The Elkhorn Antlers are taking a road trip to square off against the Beatrice Orangemen at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Elkhorn is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Elkhorn and Waverly had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Antlers came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The game was the first time Elkhorn have beaten Waverly on their pitch since April 5, 2018.

Noah Schluchter and Nick Pagliuca scored both of Elkhorn's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Beatrice ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Standing Bear 3-2. That's two games straight that Beatrice have won by just one goal.

The victory made it two in a row for Beatrice and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Elkhorn, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Elkhorn's way against Beatrice in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Elkhorn made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Antlers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
