It was fun while it lasted, but Shawnee Mission South's undefeated season came to an end after 21 games on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Maize Eagles. The loss put an end to the Raiders' undefeated start to the season.

Maize's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Myovela led the charge by going 7-for-9 en route to 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Myovela is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alec Grill, who posted nine points and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shawnee Mission South fell to 21-1. As for Maize, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Shawnee Mission South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maize, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-55 loss against Shawnee Mission Northwest on the 14th.
