Baseball Recap: St. John-Vianney Comes Up Short

St. John-Vianney fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Monmouth Regional on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mike McCormack was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for St. John-Vianney: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

St. John-Vianney's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Monmouth Regional, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Looking ahead, St. John-Vianney will welcome Freehold Boro at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monmouth Regional, they will venture away from home to face off against Howell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
