Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions and the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will compete for holiday cheer at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Sierra Vista sitting on five straight victories dating back to last season and Bishop O'Dowd on three.

Last Wednesday, Sierra Vista was fully in charge, breezing past Somerset Academy Losee 76-38.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sierra Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jevon Yapi, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists. Yapi is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Knoll, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd made easy work of Head-Royce on Friday and carried off a 70-48 win. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season.

Bishop O'Dowd's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.7 points. As for Sierra Vista, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
