Volleyball Recap: Zanesville Takes a Loss

Zanesville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 3-0 to the Watkins Memorial Warriors. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Warriors when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Watkins Memorial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 9, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Watkins Memorial found their leader in sophomore Sofia Zamora, who had 22 digs. Zamora is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 22 every time she's taken the court this season. Emily Thompson was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

Looking ahead, Zanesville will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Watkins Memorial, they will take on Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
