Softball Game Preview: Show Low Cougars vs. Safford Bulldogs

The Show Low Cougars will square off against the Safford Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Show Low and Snowflake, and Snowflake kept the tradition alive. The Cougars fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Safford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Sabino. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since February 27th.

Safford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Show Low, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2.

Show Low got the 'W' in their previous meeting last Saturday against Safford by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
