Basketball Game Preview: Mayfield Trojans vs. Centennial Hawks

The Mayfield Trojans will head out to square off against the Centennial Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mayfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 17 games.

Mayfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Las Cruces, who was ranked 14th at the time (Mayfield was ranked fifth). Mayfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Las Cruces on Thursday, sneaking past 34-32.

Meanwhile, Centennial made easy work of Alamogordo on Thursday and carried off a 48-23 win.

Centennial is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Mayfield, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Mayfield barely slipped by Centennial in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 33-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mayfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
