Soccer Game Preview: Gillespie vs. Roxana

Gillespie is 0-9 against Roxana since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. Gillespie will head out to challenge Roxana at 4:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Gillespie is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Athens/PORTA, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Roxana had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They never let the Railsplitters get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. That's two games straight that Roxana have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Gianna Stassi, who's now up to eight this season.

Roxana's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Gillespie, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Gillespie might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Roxana when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Gillespie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
