Softball Recap: Morgantown Comes Up Short

Morgantown scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Chardon Hilltoppers by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mohigans have suffered since March 20, 2024.

MADISON WISMAN spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, GRACE ROBINSON and GIATTA IQUINTO stepped up to the plate in a big way. ROBINSON got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double, while IQUINTO went 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That double marked the first that ROBINSON hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of BETH ROBINSON, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Morgantown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Morgantown now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Chardon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Morgantown will square off against Northmont at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Chardon, they will face off against Ashwaubenon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
