Football Game Preview: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes + Official Tickets

The Purvis Tornadoes will venture away from home to square off against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Purvis lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Vancleave, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Tornadoes' defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 30-0 shutout on Thursday. The contest marked the Tornadoes' most dominant win of the season.

Purvis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jake Clinton, Cole Ladner, and Brayden Bowers picked up one apiece. Clinton has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last seven times he's played. Ladner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Laurel came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-3 W against the Braves. That's two games straight that the Golden Tornadoes have won by exactly four points.

Purvis' record now sits at 6-4. As for Laurel, their record is now 4-6.
