Soccer Game Preview: Newman Smith vs. Wakeland

Newman Smith is 0-5 against Wakeland since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Newman Smith Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Wakeland Wolverines at 7:15 p.m.

Newman Smith is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They lost 8-1 to Turner. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 591st, while the Lions are ranked 208th).

Wakeland on the other hand, have had a phenomenal season so far and haven't lost a game yet. Everything went their way against The Colony on Friday as Wakeland made off with a 4-0 win. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly four goals.

Wakeland's victory bumped their record up to 7-0-1. As for Newman Smith, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Newman Smith came up short against Wakeland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Newman Smith avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
