St. Paul Central took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Minneapolis South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Minutemen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Tigers on Thursday. While the Minutemen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

St. Paul Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Riley Erickson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run. That triple was Erickson's first of the season. Another was Colin Flahive, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

The win made it two in a row for St. Paul Central and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Minneapolis South, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul Central will welcome Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Minneapolis South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nova Classical Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
